How do I approach developing design standards? By looking specifically at what needs to be defined for the brand, product, or service.
Identity standards, or brand guidelines, are heavily focused on visual elements and brand positioning, or repositioning (rebranding). Strategic standards are intended to be used as playbooks for inclusivity, holistic growth, or workplace practices. I have also designed more technical standards for the built environment, which require consultation with experts on code compliance and accessibility.
My work in this area ranges from accessible environments to inclusive digital strategies and comprehensive brand systems for tech giants, institutions, and both franchisees and small businesses. All in all, formalized guidelines that I have worked are a visual and functional representation across various mediums to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with specific identities and objectives.
